    If you have a website and wonder why you do not find your site when you do an online search or when you search for a product or service that you provide and your competitors’ site ranks higher in the search than your company, then this seminar is for you.

    • Integrating Networked Resources into the Curriculum

      Are you interested in learning to integrate online tools and Internet resources in order to reinforce your curriculum? Would you like some practical help and advise in locating great online resources, lesson plans, and curriculum materials?

      This workshop highlights the practical and pedagogical issues related to integrating networked technologies such as the World Wide Web into the classroom environment. After a brief introduction to online environments, the session will focus on hands on practice in conducting effective online searches. Next there will be an examination of some classroom activities utilizing networked resources including e-mail based projects, online collaborative projects, WebQuests, and teacher/classroom web pages. The workshop will conclude with each participant designing an effective lesson using networked resources for use in their own schools and classrooms.
       

    • Creating Successful WebQuests

    Are you looking for a model of ways to bring the vast resources of the Internet into your classroom and curriculum either in the short or long term? This seminar will cover the reason for the WebQuest model. You will study short-term and long-term WebQuests and the reasons and value of each type. There are many WebQuests currently available and you will learn how to locate those that may be relevant to you and your students. You will also learn what tools are available to develop your own, formats most commonly used and where to find templates.

    Participants will learn how to develop WebQuests utilizing basic word processing applications. It is not necessary to have WWW authoring privileges to make use of this workshop, but for those participants who can post materials to the WWW, this topic will be covered as well.

    • Multimedia Projects in Your Classroom

    Every teacher knows there is nothing more rewarding than seeing his or her students actively engaged and enthralled by a learning activity. In this workshop, teachers will learn how to use multimedia presentation software to effectively support and promote student learning. Participants will review examples of multimedia projects, explore various presentation tools, and develop basic proficiency in these use of these tools. Methods for teaching students how to use these tools will be presented along with various models for project development. Techniques for assessing student technology-based work will be covered. This is a hands-on workshop using PowerPoint.

    • Developing a School Web Page

    Participants will first look at several WWW school pages to understand the basics of web design and quality. Participants will then work to develop their own pages. Participants will follow step-by-step handouts and demonstrations to incorporate and format text created on a word processor. Participants will learn how to insert graphics and photos; design colorful borders and backgrounds; and capture features from other web pages. Creation of hypertext links to other web pages and email will be utilized. Uploading to the web server will be explained and demonstrated. Copyright and other legal concerns will be explored.

    This workshop can be customized for the use of several popular web design applications such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver. The use of some sort of web design software is assumed. This is not a workshop on creating HTML code.

    • Advanced Microsoft Word

    Would you like to help your students use Microsoft Word to effectively create comprehensive, visually attractive, documents or projects? Would you like to learn more about the features of this software package which most schools already own? In this hands-on workshop, you will learn Word's advanced features and see examples of projects utilizing these features. As a workshop product demonstrating your knowledge, you will design and produce a student assignment or unit activity that can be used in your classroom.
